A Self Case Study (Introduction)

The following is Part I of a self case study of My Voice Unchained.

Introduction

My Voice Unchained is middle-aged, unemployed, and single. Faced with a series of what felt like severely stressful situations, life changing events, and frustrating entanglements with narcissistic personality types and their associates, My Voice Unchained decided to cut her losses with toxic situations and begin a new life chapter.

This new life chapter would consist of cutting ties with anyone exhibiting toxic behaviors that added to her overall stress. In the process of beginning a new life chapter, My Voice Unchained took what appeared to be drastic measures. She weaned herself from prescribed antidepressants, ended therapy sessions, and resigned from working in a toxic environment. She boldly chose to live her best life in a way other than she had originally planned hoping to free herself from narc entanglements.

My Voice Unchained just wanted a fresh new start, but to have this fresh new start she knew she needed to get to the root of her issues in a way that therapy had not, see her issues for what they were, and address her issues. It’s not enough to pinpoint others as the plight of her issues. She needed to make a thorough self-assessment. She likens herself to a magnet surrounded by an invisible magnetic field. The magnet either attracts energy or repels energy.

As much as My Voice Unchained desired to repel the negative energies that always seemed magnetized toward her, she realized that she had to take accountability for her part of the magnetism. She needed to thoroughly exam what made her a magnet for those with narcissistic traits and what made the energy field around her increase in such a way that so many with these traits were strongly attracted to her magnetic field.
