Monitoring Your Every Move
The narcissist will watch you like a hawk. The narcissist is inclined to do so. It is an issue of trust, and for the most part, the narcissist trusts no one.
The narcissist’s tendency to keep their eyes on you is all a part of a defense mechanism. The narcissist seeks to protect themselves from harm.
Unlike most people who blindly trust others without becoming overly suspicious and simply taking a person’s word for what is claimed to be true, the narcissist does not allow any room for trust.
Usually, the narcissist is in a relationship or friendship with an empathic person who considers trust to be a valuable virtue. In no way would this person seek to dishonor anyone – especially the narcissist.
Yet, the narcissist does the very thing the empathic person should do … which is trust no one until a person has had time to prove trust.
On the other hand, however, the narcissist does not allow time to prove the value of trust. In fact, the narcissist simply does not trust because they know themselves, and the narcissist does not trust themselves either.
To keep track of you, the narcissist monitors you. This monitoring can be viewed as nothing short of spying on you or stalking you. The narcissist will monitor your every move. Sometimes, you might be surprised that their monitoring of you continues even when you are no longer in relationship with them.
