Cold-Hearted Snake

In the late 80s, I was a fan of the music video, and I would envision a musical storyline based on the lyrics I listened to in almost any song long before any video ever materialized for the song.

Of course, I’d be far off from the actual video storyline when a music video did materialize, but sometimes my imagination would steer me oh so close.

Needless to say, words best come to life for me through a series of pictures. So when I hear a song, I see the words play out within my mind.

Oftentimes, lyrics to songs have played out in my own personal life. Indeed, so many songs come to mind, but one song stands out when I think of my time with the narcissist I almost married.

The narcissist I almost married was, and perhaps still is, a cold-hearted snake.

Cold-Hearted Snake

I would imagine whoever penned the lyrics of the actual song “Cold-Hearted Snake“, sang by Paula Abdul, must have been dealing with a two-timing narcissist because the lyrics to the song describe a narcissist perfectly.

The song itself speaks of a cold-hearted male, but the lyrics would fit a female narcissist as well.

See and listen below to a portion. Who comes to your mind?

When I think of the narcissist I almost married, I’m so grateful to have gotten away, and when he resurfaced twenty years later (to a door slam with locks), I was even more grateful to have escaped him because he hadn’t changed at all. He’s still a cold-hearted snake.
